Workshop for "Upgrading Existing Forestry Courses and Developing a New Course on Forest Landscape Restoration and Sustainable Livelihoods"

Workshop for "Upgrading Existing Forestry Courses and Developing a New Course on Forest Landscape Restoration and Sustainable Livelihoods" was held at Patuakhali Science and Technology University (PSTU) on 29-30 May, 2023. Honorable Vice-Chancellor of PSTU Professor Dr. Swadesh Chandra Samanta adorned the chair of the workshop. The workshop was presided over Professor Dr. Md. Alamgir Kabir, Dept. of Agroforestry, PSTU and key discussants were Professor Dr. Roderich V. Detten and Professor Dr. Dietrich Schmidt-Vogt, University of Freiburg, Germany. PSTU representative Professor Dr. Md. Ektear Uddin, Dept. of Agriculture extension was attended the workshop. Two representatives from Rangamati Science and Technology University - Mr. Shourav Dutta, Lecturer, Dept. of FES, and Mr. Saddam Hossen, Dept. of FES were participated the workshop. After executing a successful discussion, representatives from the mentioned 3 universities visited nearby Tengragiri Wildlife Sanctuary of Patuakhali with an aim to realize the restoration potentialities of the natural resources. The workshop, field excursion and fruitful discussion would be effective to develop and implement an updated course curriculum on Forestry courses.

The workshop / discussion was organized by "Higher Education Cooperation for Forest Landscape Restoration and Sustainable Livelihoods in Bangladesh and Vietnam (FORSU)" project. FORSU is a 3-year collaborative project implementing by 7 partner universities (ALU-FR, HU, PSTU, RMSTU, TNU, TUAF and UH of 4 different countries (Finland, Germany, Bangladesh and Vietnam). The project is Co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.
