Department of Forestry and Environmental Science of RMSTU has organized field (exposure) trip to Sundarban Natural Mangrove Forest, Bangladesh

From 26-30 January 2025 a learning and exposure visit to Sundarban Mangrove Forest was organized by the Department of Forestry and Environmental Science, Rangamati Science and Technology University (RMSTU). A total of 43 students and two faculty members joined the field trip where they came to understand species diversity (flora and fauna), species composition and other characteristics of Sundarban mangrove forest including land and soil formation, Pneumatophores, regeneration status at Andarmanik, Kachikhali, Kotka and Karamjal forest sites. In addition to this, the field team visited the nearest Joymuni village to understand the household livelihood dependency of Sundarban forest. The field trip was jointly supported by the RMSTU and FORSU project (Co-funded by European union). All the participants expressed their heartiest gratitude to RMSTU authority and FORSU project for logistics and financial support for arranging the trip and expecting another exciting learning trip to learn restoration related activities in the country.
